That photo to the left? Now that’s a pie worth eating. I know. I’ve had some of Grand Traverse Pie Company’s cherry pie and it, my friends, is tasty.
So, this morning on Twitter, when I clicked through to a photo writer Mike Barish posted of the latest SkyMall cover, I was horrified to find that there, atop a stack of upsetting versions of “America’s legendary regional foods,” was a plastified piece o’pie. If I hadn’t cherry pied in Michigan before, that photo sure wouldn’t have encouraged me to give it a go. So, I will just say this: please do not let that SkyMall cover put you off your pie. It is waiting for you. And it is good.

No picture could turn me away from pie!
That is serious dedication to the pastry-eating arts. That was some mighty plastic-y pie.
Chris beat me to the punch!!
“Pastry eating arts” — awesome, I’m gonna’ use that next time I have to explain my affinity for baked goods. It’s an artform people, get with the program! Does that sound believable?
Are we sure it wasn’t ACTUAL plastic? I think I might still be tempted! JJ!!
I am SOOOO using “pastry-eating arts” the next time my wife thinks I’m eating too much dessert!
Chris and Jennifer — I dub you the charter members of the Society of Pastry-Eating Arts. Currently trying to round up more members of the club on Twitter. Fingers crossed!
